Mentoring Programme
There will be three strands to our mentoring programme
1. Accredited mentoring programme
Aimed at Lone Parents involved in a support and/or leadership role within their group or wider community. Participants who complete this programme will acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to become effective mentors.
2. Peer Support / mentoring for programme participants
Open training participants will be supported through the duration of our programmes by a peer support/mentoring system. Lone parents who have completed OPEN programmes and indeed other training, or who volunteer/work in the sector may become a mentor. All volunteer mentors will be provided with training and support and then matched to a mentee.
3. Peer Support / mentoring
OPEN members can avail of a peer support system; whereby individual lone parents are matched with another lone parent. Who will befriend, provide support and a listening ear all aimed at tackling the isolation experienced by many Lone Parents. The lone parents will then be supported to become involved in an OPEN group.
