Kildare, to consider those who provide services for lone parents in the county and to identify any gaps in service provision with a view to increasing understanding of, and capacity to respond to, the labour market needs of lone parents. Census 2006
In 2006 the Census recorded 6,740 lone parent households in Kildare; 85% were lone mothers, with 15% lone fathers.
One parent families made up 11% of all households in Kildare.
The Census does not provide a figure for the number of one parent families in the county, but nationally, Census data shows that over 10% of all one parent families live in multi-family households, for example, they live with their own parents.. more information
